# Character's Name: Hedylogos
# Pantheon: Greek
# Personality: Hedylogos is the god of sweet talk and flattery. As such, he has a way of talking his way into and out of any situation he chooses. He's a relentless and shameless flirt when it comes to others, regardless of what his intentions are toward the individual he's speaking to. Truth is, Hedylogos likes to make people feel good about themselves and what better way to do it than to always find ways to describe how wonderful they are.
This is not to say that he likes everyone, because he doesn't, but better to flatter your enemies and avoid confrontation than to spout off words in anger and make the situation worse. He's a horrible fighter and tries to avoid non-verbal confrontations at all costs, even if that means taking the coward's route and running from it. However, like any other deity found in the love retinue, if he or those he holds dear are harmed in anyway, he'll turn on the enemy using his talents to their full potential.
Unlike other love deities, Hedylogos is not fond of children. When exactly this trait arose is unknown, but he finds them to be inherently selfish creatures who his speech skill seem to have no effect on. No amount of sweet talk can stop a screaming baby and he finds that incredibly frustrating. This is a huge part of the reason he's been particularly careful about not allowing himself to reproduce.
Hedy has a large adoration for theater, specifically Shakespeare, and film. While anything carrying the sweet words of love and flattery appeal to him, there is something that appeals to him about the visual as well as auditory nature of theater and film.
# History: As a very small child, Hedylogos was abandoned by his true parents for reasons unknown. It could have been his wings, something that although not unheard of among the gods, was not particularly desired or it could have been his youthful silence. For many years, even after Aphrodite came upon him and took him into her care, Hedy didn't talk. It wasn't an inability, it was just conscious decision to only speak when necessary. Though that changed as he aged, he still to an extent carries the reserve of not talking at all times. He learned very young that words carried the power to bring joy or pain and so always chooses what he says carefully.
Not knowing his true parents has never been a major issue for Hedylogos. He feels that there is more to family than just bloodlines. Therefore, he considers Aphrodite and her entourage of erotes to be the closest thing to family he knows. He is severely loyal to them as well as anyone he calls friend. Being one of the most often overlooked and forgotten of the erotes, not to mention being the only one without parental ties, one would expect that he would harbor jealousy and resentment for his companions. Nothing could be farther from the truth, he values the love of family they have given him since there was never any obligation to do so.
Through time, Hedylogos gradually spent more and more of his days on the mortal plain, taking in everything they had to offer. He has a strong affection for Paris, finding the language most suited for words of flattery and the city itself built for romance. Busying himself with the world and theater, Hedy just seemed to lose track of time and in turn, family. Time had come to return from his self-induced exile and rejoin his people.
